Jurassic Park IMAX 3D and Trilogy Marathon Weekend

Celebrating 20 Years of Must Go Faster! Clever Girl & Hold on to Your Butts

Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D for 20th anniversary celebration!
Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that’s how it always starts. Then later there’s running… and screaming…

OK, I admit that’s not the most appropriate Ian Malcolm quote to begin a blog post celebrating the 20th anniversary of Jurassic Park… which, as everyone knows, is the first movie of the franchise.

And that classic one-liner? It was indeed sarcastically delivered by everyone’s favorite dino-attracting chaotician during <The Lost World, a.k.a. “Roar! Roar!” dinosaur movie #2.

However, I really can’t come up with a more appropriate Jurassic Park movie quote to better summarize the weekend my husband and I had just experienced.

It’s so true! When I was a kid, the only dinosaurs everyone knew off the top of their head were t. rexes, trikes, and stegos!

Because, yes. We did catch the re-release of Steven Spielberg’s classic 1993 cloned-dinos-turned-man-eating-monsters flick (version 1.0) by watching Jurassic Park: An IMAX 3D Experience last Friday on opening weekend.

(Note: Which, was awesome, by the way. Because although watching a T. rex chase a Jeep containing an alarmed Ian Malcolm stating “Must go faster!” is classic in itself? Having it happen in three-dimensions is even better, if that’s even possible! And everyone’s favorite kitchen scene with the raptors? Again, better in 3D!)

However, being the huge Jurassic Park fans that we are, we of course had to follow the IMAX 3D screening of J.P. #1 with a marathon viewing of J.P. #2 (The Lost World) and J.P. #3.

Let’s just say, Jurassic dino fun was had by all in our household this past weekend!

Now, if you’re like myself and have sentimental nostalgic memories of the first Jurassic flick (to this day I still remember which movie theater I attended to watch the film during the original screening back in 1993!)?

Then I strongly recommend you check out this 20th anniversary Jurassic Park re-release… before the theatrical “IMAX 3D experience” itself becomes extinct!

(Note: Har har har. I know, I know… awful pun! My apologies.)

Life um finds a way - Jurassic Park Ian Malcolm illustration

Ian Malcolm, I <3 you!

Why? Because with $18.2 million in domestic ticket sales for opening weekend (plus $3 million overseas, for a sum total of a cool $22.2 million!), Jurassic Park: the 3D redo version will now go down in history as having one of the best opening weekends for its kind!

And if you’re a fan of the movie, then you might also enjoy the following…

Check it out below! And yes, in case you can’t already tell… I ❤ me some Ian Malcolm (apparently I’m a huge sucker for boys named Ian, like my husband!).
